Rediscovering your connection to calm – the pathway to wellbeing

I’ve been really stressed. Overwhelmed, couldn’t think, started crying whenever anyone asked how I was going… it was really bad. My brain would start catastrophising. I was lost in fear and shame and I couldnt think a way out. Nothing I did seemed to work. I felt totally lost.

It’s not surprising really. When things get tough, we are taught to keep going, to push through, to work harder, do more…

When we actually need to do less, and do something different.

I want to share with you my own breakthrough.

And, I didn’t do it on my own. I had the support of my Energy Healer, my own Success Coach, and some great self discovery audio books that helps me to reframe, rediscover and reconnect – with my body.

You see, whilst I had all these people and knowledge available to me before, it wasn’t until I had my own ah-ha moment, and I noticed for myself that:

1. I was finding it hard to connect with my body – I felt separate from it, stuck in my thoughts.

2. When I did feel back in my body I actually felt calm and the chaotic thinking couldnt reach me.

What I needed was a way to spend more time in my body and away from the thinking, judging, fearmongering mind.

I could get there through meditation, or through other things like gardening (my grounding go-to), but to stay in the space and to live from that space – this is what I wanted to do more of. This is when and where I found my calm.

The challenge of getting into and staying in our calm bodies can be tricky – social media and our thought-centred world is all about drawing us out of our boides and into our minds. Aren’t we more than just our physical selves? Shouldn’t we aspire to be above and beyond?

I am actually starting to believe that this belief is exactly what keeps us stuck, worrying about what others think of us, disliking our own miraculous physical selves with all that they do, and thinking our way to our own version of hell. I think it was on the Mel Robbins podcast I first heard how the human brain is the only one that is so advanced it can create a future so horrible that we would prefer to end our lives than to endure another moment.

Choosing to reconnect and stay within our bodies helps separate us from the thinking hell we can so easily create.

And it actually feels so good.

When you start living from your body instead of just your mind, you feel so much more connected to the world, to others, and all that is. And it also becomes easier to think about and prioritise taking care of ourselves as full human beings.

We can better listen to the messages our body is sending us, and we can better listen to others. This is the stillness from which we can hear what another is truly saying – with distance from our own assumptions and beliefs.

This is the place we can truly wonder and feel grateful.

Does it sound like a place you’d like to be?

I’m exploring how I can best share this journey as a guide for you.
