Why Menopause Conversations Matter: The Personal and National Impact
“I’ll never forget when it hit me. First the exhaustion and overwhelming anxiety, and then progressively the restless legs, relentless brain fog – became constant companions. But no one was talking about why. Even my doctor didn’t connect the dots at first—this was perimenopause.”
It wasn’t until I researched this silent life stage that I realized its devastating effects. When I looked back to how lost my cousin at 44 to suicide, likely due to hormonal impacts on her mental health, I knew something had to change.
This is why Menopause Awareness Month and World Menopause Day are so critical.
Literally millions of women across Australia are facing perimenopause and menopause without the knowledge or support they need.
If we consider that 80% of women aged 35-60 are likely experiencing symptoms, they make up 27% of Australia’s workforce. Even more staggering is thatan extimated 13% of working women are forced to leave their jobs because of these symptoms, and many others downgrade their roles just to survive. These impacts run deep—affecting careers, personal identities, and mental health.
That’s why I founded Queen Be and created the “Navigating the Change” Menopause Summit, a free online event from February 3-6, 2025, designed to build awareness, provide education, and create a supportive community for women going through this transition. We’re not just talking about menopause symptoms —we’re giving women the tools to thrive.
Our summit takes a mind-body-emotions approach, offering expert-led sessions on mental health, physical symptoms, emotional well-being, and how to create a menopause-friendly life.
Menopause shouldn’t just about surviving, or just pushing through; it’s about empowering women to understand their bodies, manage their symptoms, and live their best lives during and beyond this often misunderstood phase.
Join us this February—whether you’re just starting to experience symptoms or are deep in the journey, the Navigating the Change Summit is here to support you. Together, we’ll break the silence and change the way we think about menopause, not just for ourselves, but for future generations.
