What or Who is Queen Be?
Queen Be is an initiative by certified social enterprise Learn Grow Become, led by passionate learning designer, facilitator and coach, Tanya Rutherford.
We here at Learn Grow Become are passionate about empowering women, and we also recognise that finding supportive resources can be difficult for non binary and trans folk. Everyone deserves access to information and support to feel their best.
You might have noticed we are not medical experts. Instead, we focus on translating the research into easier to understand resources. We also seek to bring you the latest updates through our expert podcast interviews and our collaborations with medical, health and wellbeing Menopause experts from across Australia and beyond.
Introducing our founder and the Queen Be story
Tanya Rutherford’s journey with Queen Be started with her own experience of navigating perimenopause. Like many women, she wasn’t prepared for the impact it would have on her body and mind. It wasn’t just about the hot flushes or sleepless nights—Tanya experienced crippling anxiety, something she hadn’t struggled with before. Small worries became overwhelming. She found herself constantly imagining worst-case scenarios, and the mental load was heavy, especially with a young family to care for.
At the time, Tanya didn’t realize her anxiety was linked to her hormones. Her Doctor was supportive, but no one connected the dots to perimenopause. It wasn’t until a conversation with a friend that Tanya first heard the term and started piecing things together. This moment was a turning point, leading her to seek more information and realize just how many women were also in the dark about this stage of life.
Tanya’s experience wasn’t an isolated one. As she started learning more, she reflected on the women around her, including her cousin, who had struggled with bipolar disorder. Tanya now believes that her cousin’s worsening symptoms were a result of unrecognized perimenopause. The hormonal changes amplified her mental health challenges, and unfortunately, without the right support or understanding, she tragically took her own life. This personal loss deeply impacted Tanya, fueling her commitment to raising awareness about menopause and its effects on both mental and physical health.
And so, Queen Be was created to fill the gap in knowledge and support. Tanya wanted to build a community where women could access real, relatable information about menopause, and connect with others going through the same journey. Queen Be isn’t just about providing facts—it’s about creating a safe space where women can share their stories, ask questions, and feel understood.
One of the key initiatives under Queen Be is the “Navigating the Change” Menopause Summit, an annual online event bringing together experts and women from across Australia to have open conversations about menopause. The aim is to break down the stigma and empower women to approach this stage of life with confidence and clarity.
Through Queen Be, Tanya’s mission is simple: to ensure that no woman has to face menopause feeling alone or uninformed. By building a supportive community and providing accessible resources, Queen Be empowers women to navigate this change with confidence, knowing they have the tools and understanding to thrive in this next stage of life.

Why Peri-Menopause?
Great question!
My own experience and subsequent research made me realise that there was just not enough awareness out there, and certainly not enough easy to understand resources that could let us ovary-bearing folk make informed choices in our own health management.
I am a Gen X girl (49 at the point of writing), who had never heard of perimenopause before discovering I was about 5 or 6 years into that particular “experience”. Incidentally, I currently have an 11 year old daughter going through puberty as I am at the tail ends of “reverse puberty”. Interesting to say the least.
My aim through Queen Be is to bust myths and help you discover the real (research validated) information, support you through your journey and beyond. There are a lot of really amazing courses and program out there which I check out and share with you.
From my own expertise I offer courses and coaching designed for those of you ready to create and find more meaning, more purpose and more fulfilment in your lives – in a way that is genuine to you.
I hope to see you in the Queen Be space (its all about the Queen you want to Be) soon!
Tanya
🐝What is Queen Be
If you’re navigating perimenopause or menopause, Queen Be is here for you. We’re an online platform designed to offer accessible information, coaching, and a supportive community for those experiencing or impacted by menopause. Whether you’re looking for answers, emotional support, or just a place to connect with others going through the same thing, you’ll find it here.
🐝Why Does Queen Be Exist?
Let’s face it—menopause is still a taboo. Women, even healthcare professionals, aren’t always aware of the symptoms or the best ways to ensure well-being during this transition. About 80,000 Australian women enter perimenopause each year, and it can last 10 years or more. It’s also worth knowing that suicide rates for women peak during this age bracket, yet menopause remains an overlooked topic. It’s time to bring it out into the open, just like we talk about other key life stages such as pregnancy/babies and puberty.
🐝 How Does Queen Be Help?
We aim to provide up-to-date information in terms that are easy to understand for women across Australia. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where you can grow, learn, and feel connected. Through our online community, courses, and events, you’ll find the tools to ask informed questions of your health professionals and gain the confidence that comes from knowing you’re not alone in this journey.
We also believe in collaboration, not duplication. You’ll find connections to vetted support service providers and courses created by other women who are just as passionate about this space. Whether it’s through our resources or recommended providers, we’re here to ensure you find the support that suits you best.
🐝 Where Did Queen Be Begin?
This journey is deeply personal to me. I first heard the term “perimenopause” when a friend suggested it might explain some of the symptoms I was experiencing, like anxiety and lighter periods. My doctor didn’t mention it at the time, and I later realized that many women, like myself, are navigating these changes without the right information or support.
The need for this platform became even more apparent when I reflected on my cousin’s story. She passed away (suicide) at 44, and I believe perimenopause likely played a role in her mental health struggles. This work became a calling for me, a way to help women through the second half of their lives with information, guidance, and community support.
🐝 Our Vision
We empower women to feel informed and confident about their menopause journey. Our mission is to help you take control, make positive lifestyle changes, and step into the next, best chapter of your life with strength and clarity.
🐝 Our Aim
We dream big.
In our first year, we aim to support 10,000 women through our community, resources, and events. Each year, we hope to double that number, building a collective of women who are ready to lead more purposeful, fulfilling lives. Whether you’re seeking information or looking to transform your life, we’re here to encourage, guide, and coach you every step of the way.
🐝 Our Values
👑 Sovereignty
We believe everyone is a sovereign being, deserving of respect and responsibility for their own choices. We aim to provide the information and support women need to thrive during this transition.
👑 Safety
Everyone deserves to feel safe—physically, emotionally, and mentally. We’re committed to creating safe spaces, free from misleading information, where women can connect and grow.
👑 Together
Humans are wired for connection. Our community, resources, and events are built around this core need for belonging. We’re here to support each other—whether that’s you, our guest speakers, or the providers we collaborate with. We’re all in this together.

Sapphire & Diamond Queens - Bespoke Coaching with Tanya Rutherford
"Coaching with Tanya was awesome!"
"Tanya was energetic and passionate and it was infectious. She was able to see through my excuses, calling me out on a few things and helping me set my bar higher. It was exactly the firm but friendly approach I needed.
Since our sessions I have become much more focused and energised. It really helped me to be held to account. What I've noticed since is that I have a much clearer sense on direction which has allowed me to make more strategic decisions, like turning down work I really didn't want to do - creating space for some really exciting opportunities that have since come my way!
A big part of my focus and energy is how she helped me to find ways to confidently, authentically and genuinely promote myself.
Tanya, I can't thank you enough for sharing your expertise with me. You have incredible skill at helping people find clarity in the complexity of being human. Anyone who is struggling to reach for the stars and find their way forward will benefit from being coaching by you. You are professional, warm and engaging as you help each person find their potential and act as their personal cheer squad as they smash their goals.
Thanks so much,
Kate."
"Tanya is easy to talk to, gives good, sound and easy to follow advice that really made a difference"
"I found Tanya to be kind, empathetic and she inspired me to think differently. I alwyas felt relaxed, listened to and confident to undertake the suggestions we formed during our sessions together.
We focused on the areas I was really struggling with and talked about ways to approach things. I realised that I wasn't too far off the mark with many of my concerns and I just needed to take a slightly different approach. These sessions really helped to feel more comfortable that my gut feeling was right and that sparked confidence in putting some new approaches into action.
I really appreciated these sessions.
Christie."
