Group vs Individual Coaching
I’d love to share with you something I’ve noticed about the group coaching vs individual (personal) coaching dynamic.
I get the feeling that group coaching is seen as the poor cousin – and not just because it is usually financially less expensive. In the coach-training world, it is often pushed as the “make more money by doing less work” approach to scaling a business. From a client perspective, this tends to equate to a lesser experience as a result of this mindset. Which makes sense – if the coach is spending less time and giving less attention, it will always feel a lesser experience.
I personally think the intention behind the experience as well as the skill of the coach, which can create a greater experience in a group setting.
By this I mean, a well run group coaching session enables everyone to learn deeply from say shared coaching hotseats (borrowed benefits), and to experience growth in an area that we may not have realised was a sticking point for us. It should be as if the experience is magnified rather than diminished.
There really is something incredibly healing about sharing a journey of growth with others in a similar situation. I also personally find that the accountability you experience in a group setting is greater when you share your goals with the group – rather than just with the coach. It’s like having a full cheer squad that just want to see you succeed!
In contrast, individual/ personal / one:one coaching can and should be a tailored experience. Whilst in a group setting there is a path taken that supports the group as a whole, in individual coaching experiences it is all about what you need. Your coach needs to be able to tune in to what’s happening to, for and with you. Essentially reading between the lines and trusting their intuition to ensure individual sessions and the overall coaching journey is one that is going to take you to where you need to go.
Not everyone wants the focus and attention that individual coaching brings. And not everyone wants to have to fit with the timing or approach of group coaching. Both approaches are and should be of equal value – meaning that you can make your choice based on how YOU like to operate and grow.
Let’s explore this with our Transform program as an example
Inside the Transform program, we offer two powerful—but very different—ways to do the work: Sapphire Group Coaching and Diamond 1:1 Coaching.
Both options are grounded in the same six transformative pillars: Meaning, Joy, Permission, Releasing, Mapping, and Maintaining. Both options use the same foundations to support you throughout your transformation. But how you journey through them—and how you’re supported—depends on the kind of space you need right now.
So, how do you decide which path is right for you?
Let’s break it down.
💎 Sapphire – Group Coaching
For the woman who wants connection, shared wisdom, and guided structure.
Group coaching offers the power of community—of walking this journey with others who are navigating similar challenges and breakthroughs. It’s ideal if you’re craving support, accountability, and the chance to learn not just from a coach, but from the reflections and stories of like-minded women.
In the Sapphire experience, you’ll get:
-
Monthly learning sessions along the Transform journey
-
Monthly live group coaching sessions over six months
-
A structured pathway through the six pillars of transformation
-
Guided tools, exercises, and practical strategies
-
A private group space for support and connection between sessions
-
A sense of you’re not alone in this
There’s something incredibly healing about hearing “me too” in a group setting—about being seen and supported not just by a coach, but by a sisterhood of women doing the work together.
If you love shared energy, meaningful conversations, and gentle accountability—Sapphire might be your space.
👑 Diamond – 1:1 Coaching
For the woman who wants deep, personalised support and private space to explore.
Sometimes, what we really need is a quiet, focused container—one where everything is tailored to us: our story, our pace, and our goals.
That’s the gift of 1:1 coaching.
In the Diamond experience, you’ll receive:
-
Personal coaching sessions with me, fully customised to your journey
-
Private support between sessions for ongoing encouragement
-
A flexible pace that fits your energy, capacity, and needs
-
Deeper exploration of sensitive or complex challenges
-
Full attention on you, every step of the way
- The bonus option to join in group sessions
Diamond is for the woman who is ready to dig deep and accelerate her growth with focused, personal guidance. It’s especially supportive if you’re navigating big transitions or want to work through things you’re not yet ready to share in a group setting.
